Small Electrical Light Problem

The small l.e.d lights that are inside the a/c and fan consol, have stopped working when i turn on the car headlights. The ones telling what function is on still work, but the background lights so you can see all the buttons at night have stopped. any idea how to sort it? a light swift tap made them work when it started playing up seemed to work, but now nothing!!

have you had the centre console apart for any reason? new head unit etc.

bad connection? that it out and have a look. although they are all single leds and replacing them can be a long job! there is a few people on the owners club that have went and changed all these bulbs to blue led 1s. took forever tho!

Did a google search and found that the background lights are 5mm small bulbs in the back of the climate control consol. There are two, and the lighting elements are both broken. Apparently toyota sell replacements for somewhere in the region of £6 each.... Daylight robbery if you ask me :) (they are the size of this smiley)

The L.E.D lights behind each button are fine, as i say, just the background lights that come on when the headlights are turned on are out!!

So with all that being said, any ideas guys where i could get some cheaper replacements other than going to toyota??

i know the dash 1s are 501bhp2 not sure if those are the same tho. you would need to look.

if you are ordering then i would do the dash as well. do it in blue leds

I may have some; I had a job lot of bits for a Gen 5 off eBay and I think it sounds like the bulbs may be the same size.

Having said that, I think most of the bulbs I have are green; are those the ones you need, or do you need clear ones?

yeah mate it is the green ones i need. they are tiny with a rubber green lens around them. you say that you may have some? it would be very much appreciated if you could help!!

you could replace them all with clear ones, it would be just as easy. however it might start you down a slippery slope of replacing every bulb in the car for colours you like lol
