I have an Auris but the wife will needs it (first baby on the way) and I want a little car as I don't look cool enough in her Micra B)

1. Firstly is the engine by Toyota? (I don't won't any Citron in it).

2. Is it fun to drive? (The 0-60 is pretty *****ty)

...the alternative is a ugly Smart Roadster or ugly Smart Fortwo Brabus.

Why would the 0-60 automatically make it crap to drive?

As far as I am aware it is a toyota engine, and if you look at some of the vids online people have gotten it to hit 60 faster than the official time ;)

It is a Toyota engine - the same 1.0 3-cylinder is used in the Yaris.

The 0-60 time has nothing to do with how good it is to drive - it's not built for speed, if you want a fast car, go and buy one! If you want something reliable & fun to get you from A-B fairly cheap then the Aygo is your thing.... ;)

Even though it's a second car don't get a 2 seater smart - 3+ seats in both cars could be useful and you can chop and change which you drive.

Some friends with a 10 month old have just bought an Aygo for her - she had a smart previously, but as a family of three using an S type 3 litre doing less than 20 to the gallon worked out an expensive way to nip to the shops, now they use the Aygo for all local journeys.

Your wife could then use the Aygo and you keep your car. This time last year and for 12 weeks previous our only car was our Aygo and we had a 1 year old then - it coped admirably.

Engine is as fitted to Yaris and a Toyota unit.

P.S. if you want to see how fun it is to drive, watch the top gear review of it, AYGO FOOTBALL!

That was quick. Thanks all. And yeah seen the episode of top gear and I like a nippy moving car around roundabouts.

I've had more fun in my Aygo on the windey country roads than I ever had in my Mini Cooper! If you want a budget car that puts a permanent smile on your face, costs £20 a year to tax and does 61mpg in a deceptively nippy 1.0litre engine then you cannot go wrong! Go take one for a test drive!

Quick? You decide

I have had a range of cars and recently changed from a Nissan 350Z to my LC but having driven my daughter's Aygo I can say it is just great for nipping about town. The engine is willing and very able to cope with day to day life.

The interior is rather cheaply put together but putting that aside I say get an Aygo and enjoy yourself :D

When Em took me out in hers it felt dead nippy, esp on bends!

0 - 60 is apparently 13.09 seconds, but i can do it in about 9/10 seconds, not bad although I've not particuallary timed myself
