Is this when your foot is on the clutch or off?

If the former is it like a rough squealing noise? It's possibly the clutch release bearing, though it's difficult to say for sure without hearing it.

How new? do you not have any warranty, or was it a private sale?

When the clutch is on I can hear it, when the clutch is down or in neutral then it goes away,

yes a private buy, is this going to cost me?

update,

Since hearing the noise I was driving along when it became a lot louder and high pitched, Now the rear diff has locked up and I can't select any of the gears.

I think something might have broken off the clutch and jammed itself in the drive train. I have left it with the Garage :( poor mr2 will give update.

  • 1 month later...

£1300 later a rebuilt gearbox and a new clutch, a gearbox bearing had fallen to pieces and lodged its self in some vital moving parts. its all fixed now but that was a bit scary.
