Old Yaris

My old Yaris 1.0, 52reg runs very well, at about 55mpg, with no obvious problem. I love it very much, like a member of my family. But it is nearly 100K miles and need to be serviced. My question is: on this situation, should I take to Looker/Toyota (Romford) service or to an independent garage (MOT centre) for service? Will the garage use the same service specification as Toyota, or just standard specification? Will they miss any important items?

I think at this mileage. you are recommended to change the cam belts. if fitted to this model. I would go to a proper authorised dealer, or at least a Toyota specialist. you couls try Jemca, in north london, or there is a dealer in essex that is a Toyota/Lexus specialist. i think they are called Westfield, or something similar.

Just to make it clear..................The Yaris has a cam chain which should be audibly checked at 100,000 miles.

Toyota centres offer budget priced servicing for vehicles over a certain age.

It may be worth shopping around for a quote

Thanks for your suggestion. I learned from here there is a good Toyota in Weir/Raleigh. I will ask them and mention the budget priced servicing.

I had a quotation from a garage for £140, and Lookers asked for £400. I am waiting for servicing specification from the garage, it is quite a big garage, I always do MOT with them.

But I should also trust more on Lookers for their Toyota standard service, should I?

Westfield Motors in Rayleigh is where I have my Yaris done, they know their stuff, are a great bunch of people and never have any problems. If you know where Makro is in Rayleigh, they are just past there.

Personally I wouldn't go near Rayleigh Weir toyota for servicing or anything else anymore - they've fobbed me off more than once, one of the service advisors was blatently rude and the price is madness.

Yeah, sorry. I thought I had a chain in the 1.3 but remember someone mentioning belts on a 1L so was not too sure. Belt adjustment/replacement is so very important, I thought it best to mention.
