Hey,

My first thread on here so go easy  :

Right, I'm just about to buy a Head Unit to fit into a T2 Yaris (54 plate).

This is the Head unit I'm looking at- http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-...341_p-23105.htm

Infact any Cd player, as i may buy from a Local shop so i dont have to wait for delivery.

Do i need anything special/extra to get this to work? Cage? connectors?

Any help is very appreciated

thanks

-James

You will need http://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-iPhone-3-5mm...r/dp/B000WKQ8LS or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-5-3-5mm-CAR-AUX-AU...1QQcmdZViewItem

If you want to be able to charge the iPhone via headunit and control it via the headunit you can get the official Kenwood Ipod adapter: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/kenwood-kc...97fa61024c79f40 It does work with the iPhone. However it wont work with the Kenwood unit your mum has got as it doesnt have cd changer control.

If the head unit is unused you can get a refund. Also Halfords prices are quite a bit more than internet prices so you may as well get a refund and buy online.

If i get a Head unit with a front mounted USB port, can i just use the original iPhone cable to play it via the CD player (dont car about controlling the iPhone or charging it, simply play it through player).

Seen pictures that lead me to believe that, but cant find out for sure

The ones with front mounted USB are usually to play mp3s of a usb hard drive or pen drive. If it says it supports Ipod music or control through its USB port then it may work. You will just need to check with the manufacturer of the head unit if it is compatible with an iPhone too.

If you dont care about controlling it or charging it then your kenwood unit is fine as it has an aux in on the front.

try here - I buy a lot of mine from here and they seem to be really well priced.

http://www.audio66.com

I bought my Sony Xplod from there a few years ago for £99 delivered and it came within 2 days - Unicar in Leeds couldn't even get it under £200.

good luck
