Previa Throttle Linkage

I have a 2.4i petrol 'L' reg previa

Anyone know what the second cable on the throttle linkage is for (the first one being the throttle calbe itself). It has a small red rubber cover the cable

I guess you have automatic gear ?? then this is the kickdown / gear shift cable
