Brake Disk Grooves?

Hi.

I've got a new Avensis TR with only 2,500 miles on the clock, and it already has grooves in 3 of the 4 brake discs. Has anyone else had this happen?

I have a 2007 Avensis and the same thing happened to minewithin the first few thousand miles. Something to do with the metal composition of the pads. My dealer changed my discs and pads (modified) once I reported it. It is a known issue. Hope this helps.

My Tr 2.2 d4d has 20.000 on the clock disc and pads are good no grooves and no problems to date.

It is a known issue, make your dealer aware and he will change them for you

I've booked it in to Inchcape, Derby, but they tell me that no-one else has reported this problem. hmmmmm???

hello

i have first changed all pads at 75k (km). it's understood all brake discs have minor grooves and i was told by mrT that i'd not machine discs but to change all of them once ther thickness would be less then limits. now my clock shows 100k (km) and all discs are still the first originals.

It sounds like yours are doing fantastic, but mine are deep grooves, on 3 discs after only 2500miles!

Brake discs and pads were changed under warrenty, without any problem, but they were going to charge me for adjusting the handbrake cable, which needed 8-9 notches before it worked.....don't forget.....only 3 months old, 2.5k on clock!!
