Is Toyota Tns 200 Sat Nav Compatible With Cts?

Hi Folks!

My dad's been given a TNS 200 navigation system, but does anyone know if this is compatible with a face-lift Corolla T-Sport please?? I've just wangled it, but bar the actual box and disk I've got nothing else. I'd seen the rear of our CD units, and I'm sure it'll connect at least, but what wires are needed and is there a need for any sort of special aerial?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, just I've always fancied one of these!

Cheers!

I think TNS300 and TNS600 are compatible with this sat nav, just checked tech doc website and it only has installation manuals for the 300 & 600.

You will need the wiring loom from Toyota (which I think can only be bought with another sat nav unit which is alot of money from Toyota.

You will need a GPS aerial but this will come with the Toyota wiring loom if you buy it from them, but I dont think it will fit your car sorry

Cheers, Smoftah!

I thought it was a bit too good to be true winding up with one for nothing!! :D

The instruction manual is dated march 01, so it's a fair age by car standards. It does have a list of compatible cars, showing pictures of the corresponding head units, but ours isn't there. It does work with the corolla, but going off the picture it looks like what was in my dad's old W reg (sorry I don't know the code, but not our shape! :D ), so I doubt it'll work. I wish I had the wiring with it to give it a blast, just I'm itching to see if it'll boot up!

Never mind though, not the end of the world!

Cheers mate!

No probs

Stick it on eBay should get around £30 for it. It works with the Camry, older Corolla E11, MR2 Roadster, Yaris, Avensis 1998 - 2008 and Rav4 previous generation.

TN200 is deffo compatible with the E12 facelift, but you need a couple of extra looms to make it work. i've got one!

Aerial is HRS GT5

Loom is about 80 Quid

sub looms are another 30 quid

this is froma dealer though.

Cheers for the replies, fellas!

So it can work with a little bit of tweaking!! :D I've found an Toyota installation pdf for the TNS 300, so seen where to install the antenna (which I've seen on eBay for a tenner, so at least one bits cheap), but is there much faffing with the wiring loom to make it compatible, or is it fairly plug and play? I only ask just as I'm a novice at electronics to be fair  And I can't seem to source a loom from anywhere bar Mr T - bummer. :(

Thanks!

You can try breakers yards for the loom because the Avensis 2001 - 2003 facelift Avensis had the TNS200 as standard on all GS models, try eBay for breaking Avensis.

Just a thought

the loom is plug and play. Don't bother with the avensis loom, its different. you need the loom off

Rav 4

Celica

Corolla

Yaris

any of the above will fit.

so who's right then?

if you have to buy any bits from Toyota i would sack it off. they charge silly money for things like that. about 8 years ago i got a Corolla GXi, me old man had a Carina E he had had from new - when he bought it he speced for the seperate single shot CD player, which kind of makes up a double Din size stereo, quite flash back in '93! he was selling the car so i wanted the CD player as both cars had the same head unit. toyota wanted £150 for the plastic surround. the excuse was that it discourages the market in stolen gear as the retro-fit put it out of normal people were willing to spend?

hey ae102, how bout this over 700euro for an a/c condenser, before labour and regas, its just a rad for gods sake. After market 189. May be its just cause i came from ford but Toyota would break your heart when it comes to part prices, my pockets are not deep enough

Again, thanks for the replies lads!

I think you’re right, unless I can pick one up for a reasonable price from a breakers then it’s just not viable really, I mean that’s serious money for what is essentially a bit of wire. We’ve got a sat nav at home anyway, but I really liked the idea (even if not as good as a tom-tom or what ever) of having it plumbed in.

I know what you mean about Toyotas prices though, they’re insane!! And the reason the gave you ae102 for the price of the surround is rubbish really. You’re right though, they’d sell far more at a reasonable price – my pockets aren’t that deep either.

Believe it or not the Lotus dealer was far friendlier, far more helpful and FAR cheaper!!

if you are really on a budget, you can make one for about £10-15. a bit of soldering needed though.

Cheers for that mate, but I have to admit that I'm really not up to scratch with electronics :(

Unlike yourself of course, I've been watching your car pc and think it's really impressive!!

Back on the loom, my step dads a head electrician for a big contractor, but we'd still be clueless what goes where - it'll end in tears!! :crybaby::lol:

I'll try some breakers yards now that I'm off for the weekend.

Thanks again!
