Hi All,

I was heading to the office this morning and i saw the same model Corolla as i had back in 99', got me thinking how cool it was living at home, no mortgage, loads of ale etc etc.

Anyway, this car was a 98 R E11 1.3 GS 3dr in metallic green with 14" Wolfrace alloys and a chrome exhaust finisher, i was selling cars when i got at as my demo and i remember thinking oh dear, i dont want it. How wrong was i, it had Air Con & Electric Roof (you rarely get that now) and the 1.3 engine was great it had a power band about 4,500 RPM, but still did 45MPG that was amazing compared to the 1.4 Escorts i had been driving at that time. Even my mates began to appreciate it, and i even started liking the bug face, i did about 6k in 6mths in that car and i really was gutted when i sold it, as it was a great car well made a good drive and never missed a beat and that car was being hammered by an 18yr old (wannabee) speed demon, she hit the limiter many times! The old couple who bought it must have treated it better.

Did anyone else run one of these or has one now?

i had one and loved it!! my 1st car i bought too! ah back then everything was so much easier, nothing ever went wrong with the good old corolla! except for the 2 slow punctures i had, luckely it was before i got my 17's! unlike now where im spending like there was no tomorrow on my new toy, everytime i fix a problem 2 more things goes wrong! oh well...

before i passed my test i got to drive my step mum's G6, loved it. passed my test and drove it again and still loved it, but wanted a little more power so i went out and bought myself a '99 SR. still got, trusty ole' thing ;) but now the 4A-FE power plant isn't enough, so i'm giving it the engine the SR should have always had; a 3S-GTE

You were 18 years of age in 1999 and bought a '98 car!

You must be very rich to be able to have afforded a one year old car at 18 years of age! :P

It was my demo at a car dealer, i had it for so long because nobody wanted to buy it, shows what the general public know about cars. I must have sold 30 Astra/Escorts in the time i had that Corolla.

The first Toyota i had was a ke70 with the black bumpers and the 4k engine and i was 19 at the time. Drove it for three years and bought a R.W.D GT Coupe when i was 22. I thought i was some lad then! Im still driving toyotas after 17 years and yes i still have a 1986 R.W.D GT Coupe for the weekends and the odd car show.

I often wonder where it is now.
