Power Window Problem

I have a 1993 toyota corolla and I am having trouble with the driver's side window. The window will not go up or down, nor will it stay up. I took the door panel off and the motor is still working. In fact, the cable is moving around like it should (I think). My guess is that the piece under the window is not engaging the cable. Does this sound right? If so, is this something that I can replace? If not, do you know what it might be? The car is old and has 336,000 miles on it and I am trying to avoid a costly repair. However, I can't get the window to stay up and it is driving my up a wall. I drive a lot of miles for my job and spend a lot of time on the road. Thanks for any help that I can get.
