In Search Of The Lowering Springs...

I am going to fit 17'' or 18'' rims on my Auris pretty soon. The car is quite high even now, so I'm considering some lowering springs. Do you have any suggestions according the brand? Are the TTE springs good enough, or is there some better or same quality but cheaper springs?

Also about shock absorbers, are they necessary in my situation, and if not is it still better to upgrade them too?

Want to make the car lower but not so low that it will hit every higher point on the road and the bottom will get damaged...

Regards, Alex

hey

well on my previous auris (which is dead now) i had 30mm COBRA springs...they are cheap, less body roll and pretty comfortable, but that was on standard 16" wheels. they are good for the price which are £100 or so...

im getting some Eibach springs coming in soon they are £150 not much more but a better brand, maybe a better quality.

but if you want cheap, the Cobra springs do well on the road.

the thing about shock absorbers, i was told that they may give a firmer ride, but they arnt really essential if they are just for road use, and the shocks wont make the car any lower.

İ have fit 18 rims on my auris a couple weeks ago. But it seems very high, therefore i desided to buy some lowering springs. Unfortunatelly i couldnt find any springs except those which are provided by toyota official dealers, but they want 250EUR for it, moreover they will lower my auris only 25mm, what i think is not enought. Please i need an advise, what shoul i do?

Hello Azat!

I have 18'' wheels too, and -35mm lowering springs from H&R installed.

The ride and height is good, and my car looks like this now:

Thanks man :) The price in Finland was about 200euros... The warranty for the car will not expire, maybe for the shock absorbers but I think that it won't even for them, because the springs are, yes, exactly made for Toyota Auris!

One more thing about lowering springs: I've heard that if you use shorter springs with original shock absorbers, it's not as good than if you had original springs, because the shock absorbers aren't designed to work as low as they will have to because of the shorter springs. This can affect on how often you'll have to buy new shock absorbers. Usually it's like every 80 000km, but with lowering springs it will be approximately 70 000 - 75 000km. But I still think that it's worth it. You won't save a lot if you'll change your shock absorbers 10 000km later...
