Treating Small Rust Spots

Hello.

I have noticed a small rust spot hidden away by the rubber seals of the door. How would one go about treating it?? It is a small cluster about the size of a 5 penny piece and the colour of my Rav is a metalic beige. When the door is closed it is out of sight.

Cheers

When the door is closed it is out of sight.

That is what the captain of the Titanic thought about the iceburg ;)

Has there been a water accumulation because the drain holes have been blocked?

Don't panic!

If its behind the rubber seal just rub it down with abrasive as best you can and put some paint on it. Hammerite takes some beating. If it is out of sight any colour will do. The important thing is to cover the rust spot and then look at it every month or so to see it is stabilised.

Just check out the drains etc as Red Yaris has indicated

Thanks guys.

I have done a bit of googling and reckon I can get stuck in. I have noticed another rust spot too, but I dont think they are anything to do with drainage issues. Someone mentioned that it is possible to get 'colour pens' from Toyota to touch up with. Does this sound right?

Thanks again.

You can get touchup paint from your local dealer (small tin of paint) or get three pen touchup kits from Haldfords; from their website:

Three Pen Kit Containing:

# Preparation and priming

# Painting

# Laquering and Blending in.
