Compressor Back Box

hello all

right im sure all us compressor owners have had the odd comment thrown at us

'is that second exhaust fake' because it has only one back box, admittedly it does look wiered when you are following it.

so i came up with an idea,i never hunted for splitters or some sort of body styling to hide it,i just painted it with matt black heat proof paint i have had people following me now and it has solved it.obviously close up you can spot what it is but it just disguises it if you want pics posting i will do so getting new rims so wiil post some then

thanks

tbh it is kind of a fake........ why would an in-line 4 need twin exhausts? twin exhausts are really meant for cars with 2 manifolds - V's -with enough capacity to warrant it.

yeah know exactly what you mean that's the only thing i don't like bout the look of the car an i don't wanna put a splitter there really either, plan was to get custom exhaust for it when warranty runs out but that over a year away, but yeah if you could put some pictures up to show what you've done, nice one

Mike, a custom exhaust wont affect your warranty. if they tried voiding it because of an exhaust they would have to prove the exhaust caused the problem in event of a warranty claim.

iv changed my exhaust.. cos i hated the look of that back box.

with regards to the warranty is it thier job to prove that the exhaust is causing the problem? or would it be our job as the customer to prove that the exhuast for example wasnt causing the problem?

they would - or sorry the engineer that warranty send round - would have to prove the exhaust caused a problem. your only getting cat backs so in effect its a cosmetic change as the pipework will be the same just in stainless with different b/boxes on.

with regards to this then i've gotta book my car in to get dipstick an the tubing it sits in replaced cos the dipstick keeps blowing out so lindops are doing it under warrranty an they want to do the work themselves, now i've fitted a typhoon kit an i know this isn't causing the dipstick problem cos it's always done it but would i be best to take this off an put stock airbox on or would they not let this affect warranty??

Lindops! your brave - swerve um Mike, right cowboys. Corolla Chris has reported the fault to Toyota (he's workshop manager for Toyota in Madchester) As far as i'm aware they havent upgraded the part. bit of a concern that the dipstick blows out indicating high crankcase pressure - thats what breathers are meant to be for
