Just saw this post on RAV4World and wondering who has the highest mileage here?

21pro Posted: April 9, 2007, 12:35 pm:

I'm currently at 708,000 kms (424,800 miles) on my 2001.

still same engine, no rebuild, changed plugs 2x's... still good compression, if you can believe it!

i had catalytic converter CEL issues with the vehicle as long as i owned it... though, it hasn't noticeably affected gas mileage or performance...

around 580,000 alternator & Battery went

around 600,000 i replaced a clutch

around 670,000 5th speed went (manual tranny) so i put in a whole new tranny.

around 700,000 power steering started to leak- changed it immediately.

still same rad, water pump, etc..

every once and a while my rear wheel bearings need replacing... shocks last surprisingly long.

I must admit I find that mileage a little hard to believe as it works out at an average of just under 200 miles a day EVERY day for 6 years  but it shows the RAV4 is very reliable.

so anyone come close to 200miles a day every day? 70,000 miles a year? (I am on about 10k a year :) )

Number 1 was doing 20k miles a year before being laid up at 150k approx with a seized engine. It was off the road for about 3 years I think before I restored it, having had it from new.

I suppose like any car, things will work better when its use is regular. Apart from the LR. It just works after a fashion

My RAV is at 92K and doing about 20K a year.... Used every day and some journeys are 200 miles a day....depending on where I need to get too. But not all the time...

I used to do about 30k a year as a service engineer in the mid '80s and that mean probably over half my working life in the car. My roundtrip to the office is 260 miles but don't bother going into work that often

I used to burn out Ford Sierra 2.0L annually - mileage was that high and they got thrashed on the motorway runs.

Then Royal Mail gave me a Rover 620 coupe (?) which was good - up and down to Milton Keynes in a day was a doddle. Used to do Bromsgrove -620 mile round trip frequently; and Newark in Notts also in a day on a regular basis. The latter was best when I had the Previa (1994) - 100mph and great balance as was mid-engined.

Now the RAV has a better engine and wider tyres........

think we'll drop the suspension on it a little to see how it is at a cornering? Its only up to 171k miles - original transmission right enough.
