I am about to collect a 2004 xt3 2.0 petrol it has 63000miles on the clock. Can anyone tell me if it has a timing chain or a timing belt and when it will need changing?

Hi

Its a chain and as long as you never neglect the oil it will last a very long time without maintenance (100s of thousands of miles).

I will be doing a maintenance tip on 4.2 oil changes soon so hopefully you will do it yourself.

being the lazy bu**er I am I will prob get it serviced at a garage, but as, i believe, its only oil and filter @10k it shouldnt be that expensive and its ogot a full service history so I may maintain that for a while, especially as the wife says she may want to have the rav after ive finished withit.
