Beep Beep!

the reverse beep makes it sound like a big artic lorry. also the VSC beep sounds like an alrm clock going off which is very of putting when you got ur car on the limit...

does anyone know how/if they can be disabled?

the VSC is beeping for a reason, it's purpose is to be "off putting" !

I am with Chenks on the VSC noise, re the gearbox i think its a fairly good idea as most other cars have the reverse opposite 5/6th or operate on a lift collar, it could be fairly easy to hit reverse instead of first or the other way round with potentially disastrous results (Not that i am implying anything about your driving)

thats exactly why it was put there and the move left was stiffened right up. cant remember the exact details but there was instances of people setting off from lights thinking they were in 1st............ oops! think it was in America too so you could imagine what followed? not in reverse often anyway but it is annoying but its like most irritations, once you know there coming.............. the stiffer selection process would be enough but if that failed? You can disable the VSC apparently - you'll need to search the forum, it was a long time ago - something like with the ignition on hold the brake pedal for............. never tried it tho, tell us if it works.

The reverse beep is annoying - but you might need it one day.

MINIs have a similar gear setup, with no beeping (not for most markets anyway). I've accidentally put one in reverse instead of 1st before - luckily didn't really matter at the time but it made me thank the TS for annoying me on a day-to-day basis!

We tend to find the reverse and VSC beep not a problem at all, however the beep beep beep when you hit over 5 miles an hour with half a bag of shopping from Tesc* on the passenger seat is mind-numbingly annoying! :censor:
