Generally just the fact that they let in more fine dust and particles than the stock filters but the effectiveness of the cleaning will also depend on brand. Probably better to stay away from blits or hks coz I saw a test where those 2 did poorly cant remember the link but it wouldn't be hard to find.

Be careful, I got a Blitz Susp Power a couple of months ago - it's quicker at low revs but it has effected the Lift & needs the ECU re-mapping. Aint got the dosh at the min either :ffs:

Should be sound once av got that done tho - and it sounds gorgeous

hey buddy,

i got a k&n typhoon recently on mine, it works fine and once the engine is heated you can feel the effect on lift... just be careful fitting it, i got my cousin to fit mine as he's a mechanic, would prob cost around £20 to get it fitted by a garage.. oh and you should be able to pick one up online for around £180 plus £10 p&p - so dont get ripped off!

theres a few discussions about typhoons on this forum if you check history,

hope that helps!

Some guys on the Fiat Coupe forum looked at the effect of fitting induction kits / K&N filters / modifying the air box a few years ago. More often than not the effect is a very minor (if any) gain at the top end with a slight loss of midrange torque (as judged on a rolling road). The car 'sounds' more powerful because of the more audible induction roar, but fitting these things to otherwise standard cars can actually leave you worse off :o
