I haven't driven a compressor. This is my own write up on my t-sport vs the press

Can't understand why the press hate the styling so much. Personally, only the Golf Edition 30 looks better. The normal Golf GTI rear is too plain. I also like the Clio 197 which the cup version looks stunning for the price. I like cars which looks agressive in a subtle sort of way.

Both the civic type r and vxr looks too Max power

The Focus ST is too big

The Mini is a touch too small

The biggest plus factor is the rarity of our cars. If you give it a good clean (Zymol) people who walk past do still give it a glance. Can't see that happening with a civic type r though!

Another thing they like to criticise is the engine. If you moan the lack of low down torque. Forget even the gti, get a turbo diesel like the tdi 170. Its just as fast under 4000rpm!!! The whole point of the vvtli engine is you can drive slowly without the threat of getting a speeding ticket in town. It also help to save you fuel. I have no problem leaving the car in 6th doing 40mph. You can always drop down to 2nd when someone pisses you off in the dual carriageway. It behave similarly to my E46 M3 (Of course no where near as fast)

One thing that drives me insane is the press keep quoting the 8.4s 0-60 against other manufacterer. They obviouly did not bother to take these cars out for an acceleration test side by side youtube style. The celica can do 0-60 in the low 7s. The t-sport shouldn't have any problem matching even it is slightly heavier---slight different in gearing helps!

As for handling, I think it got more steering feel then the civic type r and certainly rides much better even with the TTE springs and bilstein dampers. The car will only understeer. The tail does not come out which may not be a bad thing our road is no where near like the Germans and its wet most of the time. The Mini comparison is simply ridiculous! Smaller cars like the mini or clio will always win the fun factor in the twisties. I used to own a 106 rallye mk 1. This car beats both the mini and clio for fun round our B roads. I can even honestly say that it is more fun to drive on a mini roundabout than my porsche cayman s!

The only thing I agreed with the press is the price. Both the t-sport and compressor is at least £2000 overpriced when new. However, this mean buying these cars second hand is very good VFM.

In summary, the press hate the Toyota Badge. Maybe because they stop producing cars like celica, supra and MR-2!

you have an e46 m3 i beleive you know your stuff. I think it is to understated and underated though. like you said i tottaly agree it cant be that bad. Many of the other cars dont look as good and are said to be. Those small clios are ugly..to tiny...fine its a hot hatch but they look sh1te.

The focuses look to phat but if you open a focus door its HUGE the door it self with some big plastic door card.......... no refinement.

And never forget all the hot hatches are more then 1.8........the t sport is a 1.8 youv got 2.5 litres etc and i think the only other car in that class is a type r! its a 2.0 the vxr etc all have larger engines and they are not producing that much more.

you got any pics of your e46...love em looking to get a 325ci driven an e36 m3 gorgeous proper sleepers but the engines sound gorgeouss.
