Possessed 1999 Previa

Please oh knowledgable people of the club, Help Us.

I have just bought the long haired general a 1999 8 seater Previa

and when we drive it the brakes sometimes start to come on on their own.

Eventually the car will be unable to move, the brake pedal is really stiff, biting right at the top

If we turn the car off and leave it a while it will return to normal, however we need to do something about this strange fault. I am a closet mechanic but have no real ideas on this one, I am hoping someone out there has an idea what is happening to our car (who is called Phil, by the way, as in Phil the bus). PLEASE PLEASE HELP

Phil is a petrol auto UK car, dont see how it can be called a UK car, they're all made in Japan aren't they?

Sounds like a faulty brake servo not releaseing pressure. Best to pop it along to your nearest Toyota main dealer and get them to take a look at it

it's not called Christine is it??

My first thoughts when I saw the title too. :)

I think Leeky's suggestion is very likely to be the correct answer to the question.

I am a closet mechanic

Handy if anyone has a broken closet I guess. ;)

Thats a good suggestion, thank you, renaming Phil, Christine that is.

As for the over active brake servo, I will let you know. If I can get the car to repeat the fault again

disconnecting the vacuum pipe should release the brakes Im guessing.

LOL!

Christine was the name of the car in a stephen king book/film.

it was about a 1970's plymouth fury that was posessed.

its a good read and a pretty cool film.

the car kills people and stuff!

the great thing about the car is when it gets smashed up or dented, its automatically fixes its self!

i wish my car would do that (but maybe not kill people)

xx
