aha finally!!! a Curren owner in the UK:). Many greetings dude!

Crap youve got a 3sfe model? Im sure thats the same lump in my dads carina E:o. Sell it and get a good example 3sge (or Curren XS) I honestly think youd be disappointed in the results of tuning an engine thats economy class. Id suggest a transplant but the overall costs arent worth it. Much Better to get a 3sge as you get EVERYTHING uprated on a 3sge model.

Out of interest who insures you m8?

It is an XS and it IS 2.0L. People tend to think that all 3sfe lumps are 1.8, not the case. Its not the sort of car I can just sell and pick up another one, is it? Besides, I havn't got time or money to play around!

Ah were you that dude askin if theres any other curren owners? I only posted once on that forum but it was full of fast&furious kids babblin on bout vtec this an vtec that so i left kwik:D.

I think i did use the currenUK username (twas aaages ago an i only posted once!).

Anyway soz i wasnt dissing your car I actually meant get a curren ZS not XS oops!.

Im pretty sure that with any yota if it aint got the 'G' its simply not a performance range engine so its not going to really take advantage of power boosting mods thats all I was trying to say.

(The 3sfe is actually the same un in me dads trusty 2.0 GLi carina E:D). But you right it isnt easy sellin an unheard of jap import like a curren:(.

I asked about insurance cos im with utter ubiks called Highway. They charge ok but are totally useless. I just dont know of any1 else that insures currens hence the question.

Got some imformation on the Curren, 4 models where made, ZS sports collection,ZS ,XS ,TS.

The ZS has a 2.0 ,3S-GE engine under the bonnet, with 180 BHP motor, (170 if an auto ).

The XS has a 3S-FE ,2.0 140 BHP engine.

And last of all the TS has a 1.8 4S-FE engine with only 125 BHP.

So with 140 BHP under your foot it should go pretty well.

If your not sure which model you have ,you can check by looking at the silver chassis plate under the bonnet....

E-ST206-DCMVF , 2.0 ZS model.

E-ST206-DCMGK, 2.0 XS model.

E-ST208-DCMSK, 1.8 TS model.

Hope thats some help :D.

Cheers Bob, My plate says DCMGK so it is XS, now I know. Your info was of great help and thanks TRD, i have been surfing since i bought the car in August but havnt managed to find this site! 99% of sites i found are in Japanese (obviously!!:D) which isnt much good to me. I only speak 2 languages, English and Gibberish! Are any of you Curren owners going to the Bentley meet, if so it will be nice to meet up, see you there.

ps. Bob, no its not that bad at all really but mines auto, although it is a sp/man o/d box which is great as autos go so would this be a lower hp than manual? i miss the acceleration of the g60 and am just wondring if performance back box and filter might tighten things up a little!

 I just bought a 94 Curren, over in Japan. Okinawa To be exact. I bought it off of a used car lot, and there's a lot about it I don't know. Mainly, I just want to know about the two buttons next to the gear selector on an automatic. One's labeled "PWR" and the other is "man" What do they do, other than make lights come on on my dash? There's some more buttons I haven't seen before, any other knowledge is handy as well. Thanks

Currenfan,

Currenfan,

Ok, the ECT-s Pwr button lengthens the stroke of each gear which makes the car accelerate harder. The Manu button is so you can go thru the gears like a manual (towing, hills etc) and the little red button with jap writing is so that you can unlock the gearbox and put the car in 'N' with the ignition off!

Unfortunately, only the XS (3sFE econ) DCMGK/DCPGK but its enough for me I'm no street racer! I'm lowered by 35mm on EIBACHs with 215/40/17's so it looks pretty good. Still only has 66000 mls and is up for sale if you know anyone who may be interested. Very good paint/body/cond etc. Sale forced by new baby r32 Skyline!:drool:
