How does the sports cat work?

Whats different inside it from standard cat, how does it provide less restriction while still keeping emissions legal?

thats a mystery not sure i think its more expensive to produce a sports cat on a manufactured car but i havent got a clue i would still get a service run and make sure its fine with emmisions...though.

Looking good! Pics when they're on soon please! :D

If you want the performance, just do what a lot of people do. Get a custom straight through system with a clip off part to replace with your cat when MOT is due.

Like 70% of people I know with High Performance cars do it.

I on the other hand, do not. The misses wont let me :( hehe.

i second that !

so is the manifold stainless steel ? whats the material of the one thats already on our cts ?

also the manifold is 4 into 1, is that whats already on our car 4 into 1 ? what about a 4 into 2 ?

performance cats have fewer "holes" in them if you open one up its like a honeycomb standard has say 800 small holes performance 400

Can get CEL lights being thrown as ECU thinks there is a problem due to amount of gases passing through

Id say you could get the light on alright with the down stream lamda after the cat. That would be the prob if you put in a straight through pipe also in are car.

So like less holes but larger. I must investigate....

What sort of bhp jump are you looking at with one of these?

the company selling the cat should say how many holes (think its *** dpi)

ones i sell for the IS200 are 400

I've not heard a CTS without a cat tbh, but most other cars without it with a decent system don't sound like wet farts at all.

I'm also unsure about the butterfly valves! When it comes to anything like that I'm useless :P

The cat i bought is a 200 cell. im getting it all fitted on the 30th this month i will post sum pics wen its fitted. The only thing im anoyed is that the Manifold is at the back of the engine so wen its fitted u wont b able to see it n e way  Shame TRD dont do a Inlet manifold for our car.

The TRD manifold is 4-2-1 design, i believe that design givs betta lower end torque, but u can correct me if im wrong. Not to sure wot the design of the OE manifold is

Umm i dont think im gna hav a dyno run bfor the exhaust, its probs around bout 189 MAX 192 since ive got a induction kit fitted. But once i hav it fitted, im hoping ill b able to go to my friends dads garage to hav a dyno run. He has a dyno that cat test cars upto 1200 bhp i believe.

heres the website of his garage, sum photos of VERY nice cars http://www.tracknroad.com/

looking forward to seeing the results of the manifold. The CAT my throw up an engine light but i hope not. i was talking to me mate the other week and we were talking about cats as i'm gonna decat me GXi. he was telling me about a Scenic they had in for cat replacement - fitted an oe equivelant cat and the engine light came on, replaced with another and the same happened? they had to replace with genuine Renualt part as the ECU recognised the slight difference in cats............
