Hi All

Need a new front n/s door for a 2005 3dr - preferably in black.

Registered with the on-line part finder people with no luck.

Uninsured moped rider (sorts t-shirt & flip-flops) decided to run into the side of me then get bugger off as fast as his little hair dryer could go!!!! Got the reg, but not registered, taxed or insured. Yep, police not really interested, can't blame them slap on the wrist for weeks of paperwork.....

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Lee

Sorry to hear about your troubles Lee. :(

I think you may have a problem getting hold of a door in perfect condition unless you get a new one. I damaged the door to my wife's old car on Valentines day a couple of years ago, after much looking around I couldn't find a door anywhere (it was a Seat Ibiza). In the end I had to pay £700 for a new one! :crybaby:

If you have a protected no claims and keep your no claim if hit by an uninsured driver, it may be better to follow this route.

What really bugs me, is that it's the uninsured t**sers who put our premiums up :censor:

I've had some success with places that specialise in Jap breakers. Parts gateway was helpful, but not always. eBay sometimes have details of write-offs being broken; but at that age, there's a high chance that picking up a good door on a write-off will be difficult.

You could ask Kingo for a price for a door. I don't know whether a bodyshop would be able to effect a repair to the door skin...or how much of the door is wrecked. Distortion at all will leave you with water and wind leaks.

Another I found useful was exchange and Mart online. Basically, you're searching for the item to come from anywhere. You could even try one of the Jap importers to see if the thing is available from there direct. If you're quick, you might just catch anchorman before he goes his annual sojourn to Florida Toyota dealers - parts for RAVs over there are pretty identical to here and a fraction of the price.

Hi

Thanks for your quick replies...

Its the wife's car and she only has 3yrs no claims (not protected) so on 1yrs no claims I doubt we could insure the Rav

I will try what you have suggested. £355+vat from Toyota for a new door may be the only option

Hi Lee,

note that you are in my kneck of the woods. Have you tried Thornton Breakers, 755 Thornton Road, Thornton, Bradford ( 01274 ) 834790. They specialise in Japenese 4x4s. Next door to David Simmonite's Land Rover place. GOOD LUCK!

Best regards

Chris
