Front Fog Lights 02 Avensis

Well lads, sorry if this is already discussed. Have a 02 avensis and both front fog lights are in working order but the wirind to it is a bit dodgy i think. I seen there was a relay to be attached to the wire but the old one was broke on closer inspection. I then purchased a new relay and attached it but it worked for literally five seconds before becoming fried. The relay i bought was not for an avensis so I'm putting it down to buying an unsuitable relay. So my question is, what relay do i need for this? As in values to look out for and such?
