March 2001 1.4 Corolla - Ac Always On

Hello All, My AC in the car is always on. Fan and AC switch are not turned on at all. A while back, I had asked for advice on my heating problem. The air would stop flowing after 15 to 20 mins of driving although the heating itself was working.

The reason for this behaviour was due to my AC being on always, and it freezes the air duct, reducing the air flow.

Toyota has had my car 5 times and they have fixed AC leaks and changed the AC compressor, but they failed to see that the AC was always on.

I myself noticed this only 2 weeks back, when the outside temp was 23 degrees and without fan or AC turned on, I was able to feel cold air flowing through the air vents. This also explains why i only get 28 MPG. When i turn on the fan, i get a cold blast of air, pressing the A/C switch lights up a green light, apart from the green AC light, pressing or releasing the AC switch does not have any effect.

Is there anything I can do to stop the AC ? I am tempted to remove the AC fuse if that is the easiest way ;-) I do not have the user manual and may need help locating this fuse.

Any pointers will be very appreciated.
