hello

in case you've changed the Battery then it can not be flat at once.

the possible problelms are: charging I & V of an alternator; electricity leak to the car's body via brocken cable; charching relay.

I have a 2003 T3S model Avensis and had to get the Battery replaced 3 times in last 8 months. Each time I was told by Toyota that their Battery was faulty (replaced free of charge last 2 times but charged me for the first time) However I am still having the problem if the car is left for week or two without starting.

I am suspecting there is a leak in my case and I am taking it to garage tomorrow.

In your case I suggest you need to check and confirm:

>> Have you installed any new gadgets? (bluetooth, Phone Charger, IPOD etc.)

>> Have you had an upgrade to your ECU?

If so take it to Toyota and ask them to carry out an overnight Battery diagnostic.

This will determine if the battery is being charged properly and holding charge.

Sounds like a charging issue. The Battery in a car is really on there to start it. Once running, the Alternator provides all electrical power for the car whilst charging the Battery back up again after starting.

Buy a cheap multimeter from a hardware shop set it to Dc Volts. With the engine running put the probes on the Battery terminals if it reads less than 12.5V the alternator has had it. If it is 13/14V the alternator is perfectly healthy and the Battery is at fault or somthing is causing the Battery to discharge.

Hope this helps.

Hi

Thanks for your reply

It was the alternator. Replaced it yesterday and everything working fine again.
