I Need Help!

Basically i just got onto the motorway and accelerated, switching gears from 2nd onwards...

Whilst in 3rd (still accelerating) i noticed my speedo start to drop... Not what i was expecting when i was accelerating :(

And thats basically it, my speedo's gone.

Just took apart my dash and removed the instrument cluster to check connections there etc.

But thawt i'd make a post on here for some pointers as to what the problem could be.

I'm hoping the speedo run cable hasnt snapped. which i *think* may be it cos it happened during shifting.

:crybaby:

If that is the case what do u guys recommend i do?

Thanks peeps,

Looking at the Toyota EPC it looks like the speedo cable is in two parts. No1 is the long one that goes from the meter to the engine bay part number 83710-17130 then a short one No2 part number 83710-17180(i think) best chek with your local dealer though as there are several options on the short one. If you can seperate the two bits you should at least be able to identify which bit you need. HTH

Rev1 - had a manual cable .. Rev2+ had a lecky one.. I've had to replace them on both MR2's I've had (dunno if I keep accelerating too hard)

I reciently hasd the same problem, found out the leccy de-limiter/converter had broke and needed re-soldering ..

I've got a rev1 so thats the manual cable i guess.

Bin looking at some guides to repairing the cable and it does seem like a bit-o-work...

Which means it's 2 much for me 2 do, and it'l be £'s for some1 else to do. :(

Can i get busted for not having a working speedo?

TBH i've found i can drive pretty well w/o it. And i can use the rev's to check my speed so being able to stick to the given speed limit is possible.

Can't belive this, got one thing sorted, now another, heh me mum's given me enuff grief over this already. lol
