Steering Column Lock

Just bought a 55reg t3-x (23000 miles) from non-franchised dealer. On arrival home I couldn't get the steering wheel to lock on parking. Took it back to garage who said they'd sort it. When I went to pick it up they said that it simply requires a lager 'turn' of the wheel than normal. This does the trick, but requires a full half turn and then the lock seems under more tension than that of any other car I have previously owned. Can anyone tell me if this sounds normal?

I have a 55 Plate (06) Avensis ...... it takes a quarter turn of the wheel for the steering lock to engage. Hope this helps.
