2008 Yaris

At the moment I have no problems with my Yaris, as several owners seem to.

I know that it was made in France, but how much of it was made elsewhere and assembled in France ?

The engine, for instance is based on the Diahatsu. Is this made in France, Japan or somewere else ?

Hopefully somebody out there will know.

Is it not more likely that the Daihatsu unit is based on Toyota's? I think daihatsu have used some toyota bits for some time.

I've got a 1.4 diesel SR on order. I was talking to one of the mechanics at work and he said it's a Peugeot engine that is used in the Toyota and Fiesta as well. You learn something everyday! The Peugeot is a stonking engine!

I forgot to add I meant the 1.3 petrol engine. I understand that this engine was made by Daihatsu, but where was it made ?

No, it's a Toyota D-4D diesel engine, not a Peugeot one. Your mechanic is misinformed! ;)

The engines a Toyota one... where it's made is of no relevance really - France or Japan, they still work just the same
