Hi All, A Few Quick Questions....sorry

Hi, firstly a quick intro. Im Luimni from Ireland. I have been driving Toyotas since i learned to drive.

Learned to drive on the fathers 84 Corolla. My first car was an 89 Corolla Sprinter (I still miss her), then 94 Carina E (had a arguement with a tree and lost) Up to now ive a 99 Avensis. Can never speak too highly of Toyota, Sister drives a Yaris and mother has a Corolla. Kept me and my family in good hands for years, Whew....right, intro over.

Now I have just purchased a T-Sport. Nice Car and I cant wait to "really" drive it. Had a nice spin with the salesman but i couldnt really put her to her full potential with him sitting there!!!

Now i know nothing about modding or performance cars, but i am decent enough with cars and engines but i just have a few stupid questions to ask and if anyone could help me out, i would be grateful.

Firstly i have read on the site, the phrase "pre & post facelift" what does that mean is that when the Corolla got its major facelift in 2000 or its facelift in 2005 (i think) when they changed the front grille.

Usually i service the car myself, oil, air filter, spark plugs, pads etc, as i have never been concerned with service histories as i usually ran a Toyota into the ground. Does the TS require a more specialised service.

Can the TTE add on's be ordered from a local Toyota dealer or can you get it through the net. I dont mean eBay but toyota online, i cant seem to find anywhere else.

Thanks anyway. Good to see a forum for the T Sport and I will add my two cents when i have a bit more T Sport experience but for now i will just be breaking her in or the T Sport breaking me in morelike.

Prefacelift is until 2004 when as you say, it got a new Front bumper, Back bumper, 15mm lower suspension, Sideskirts and TTE Spoiler (I think it was optional on pre-facelift).

It'd be better to keep a FDSH of just a FSH atleast to keep the value of the car llonger, just incase the time comes you dont get chance to run it in to the ground. They're due for services every 10k.

You order TTE stuff directly from your Toyota dealer. But it costs a fortune.

i think the facelift has auto windscreen wipers, anti dazzle rear mirror and anti roll bar compared to pre facelift although i may be wrong about these.

you can try fensport they will be able to get you tte parts.

Yes the Facelift does have Auto-Wipers, Anti Dazzle Rearview mirror, and a front Strut brace. but unsure if Pre-facelift doesn't?

I also noticed when fitting my lowering springs last weekend that it has a rear Strut bar that I never knew about! Do all T-Sports have this?

Unfortunatly, now that my eyes have been opened, I am getting worried, I dont even have my car yet and im already thinking about what colour to paint my calipers, how to fix my soon to be purchased skirts and my Typhoon kit....

its a fast car, its under rated, and no one knows how much power you have under the bonnet thats probably the best thing. On a stretch of road there are not many cars that will give you a hard time and even if you come up against something very quick you wouldnt be blown to pieces....thats whats to shout about. and its one of a kind people loooook to think whats that i have had people ask me questions about my car many times and its simply styled with original skirts etc but people wonder and ask iv never seen a corolla like that i go its all original parts etc. very different car to own with pace. im sure youll love it. I had a test drive in the t sport 2 weeks back couldnt floor it much either as salesman was with me but oo the urge with them lovely whiet and red dials...i wanted to see the rev counter jump over 5 lol

Hi Luimni, is yours a pre or post facelift. i remember a silver and a navy pre facelift in clare/limerick region. As for the differences the pre facelift was produced up to 2004. The differences are named above. hogans toyota should be able to get you tte stuff but it is quite expensive, as is many of the aftermarket parts for the cts. there are a number of suspension & induction options and a few more mods available too. it is difficult to remap as the engine is highly strung, so without spending a lot of money you will not get much more power from it. Keep it toyota serviced if you can. It will help with the resale when the day comes. Mines a facelift in silver with a uk plate and i love it its a great car to drive. iv done 5-6 hour drives with no back ache or tiredness so it is comfortable but it is fun too. take it in to lift, hold on and smile. Iv only got mine 6 months il keep it for another 1-2 years but iv it sold already to a friend who wants it when he comes back from america.

Another major difference on the facelifts - The interior is red and black as opposed to being quite plain. And the dash is red not green. Definitely an improvement! Oh and defo get a typhoon - believe me you won't regret it!

She is a black pre-facelift 03. I will have her soon, next day or two. I will definately head over to Hogans to check out the prices of TTE gear, if just to see how much i will save by buying it online.

I have some arriving for my 5 door pre facelift cts (thats another massive difference between pre and post face-lift, they dropped the 5 door option after 04) tomorrow.

Do you have a 3 or 5 door cts then? If you have the 5 door then I'll take some pics of what arrives and put them up tomorrow for you.

It's not just you mate. Pretty much everyone agrees, the side skirts fonish off the sides very nicely, and you do look at it and think they are missing on the pre facelift. All of my mates have said it too without any prompting on the subject.

Anyway, my 5 door skirts just arrived so here's a quick pic of them (sorry about the finger prints everywhere)

eBay £125 painted and delivered. I just checked his other auctions and he has 1 set of 5 door skirts left but nothing in a 3 door variety. I was very impressed with it all. It took less than a week for them to spray it and deliver them to me, plus they would wrapeed in plastic, then wrapped in bubble wrap then put inside a very large and very thick box. Arrived in perfect condition :)

I had a quick look for any E12 3 door skirts in general on eBay but couldn't find anything for you :(

Thanks for looking. Much appreciated. But i think i will leave it for a while, I just got her and she looks far too nice at the moment for me to start playing with it. Give me a few weeks when the novelty has passed and then i will start tinkering with looks and performance.
