Engine Management Light

whilst doing some minor electrical work on my rav i failed to complete the job properly. the resulting problem is only a minor nuisance but mostly annoying. the engine management light has come on and though all the wiring is as it should be now i cant get the light to turn off. without resorting going to a stealer to reset the light is there a home-fix option? nothing has come up on the search option... thanks in advance...

can you not buy an obd11 (bout £35 quid) and reset it with that, and yes i know it would cost that at a dealer but then you've got it for next time ;)

thanks for the advice... went for the elm5 option from talktomycar. more bulky than the handheld option but more versatile.
