Aerial

Hey guys, I'm after a bit of advice.

Not long after I got my Avensis I parked it under a tree. When I reversed out the aerial got caught in the low branches and snapped.

I replaced it with a Halfords one, solid metal. Upon inspection of the original one it was fibre glass with a wire running down it, and was twice the length of the one I have now.

Anyway, I've noticed that the radio (FM) reception isn't brilliant. My local radio stations seem to break up if I go just a few miles down the road. I had a VW Touran for a bit and that gave a crystal reception of the same station 35 miles away!

Is it due to the non-original aerial or is the Avensis radio not so good?

To be fair I don't listen to the radio that much, but it's nice to have if I forget my iPod. Just wondered if it was worth paying 25 quid + VAT for a proper one, or just put up with it.
