Hey all ,

I need to put my spare on as i have a cut in my tyre that's quite deep but am having trouble getting it off (well my step dad is , i'm watching him have trouble) , We've jacked the car up , taken the bolts off with the locking nuts ( i apologise if ive used the wrong terminology , being a typical girl ) and the thing wont come off ... the spare has been on before but my ex's dad changed that and i can't get hold off him to ask .

Any ideas / help would be great guys !!

Thanks in advance :)

The wheels sometimes sit very snugly on the central spindle, so you need to hold the tyre with both hands diametrically opposite and gently push one side away while pulling the other toward you. Then rock the other way and gradually it will loosen.

Be really careful not to push the car off the jack.

No bolts means the wheel should come off

Maybe you can tap the rear of the wheel trying to knock it off the hub.... but before you try that make sure the car is fully supported and don't just rely on the jack

ok.. safety first... put the wheel nuts back on and lower the jack... loosen all 4 studs off by about 3 full turns... jack the car back up.

Now the technical bit... give it a whack from the back of the wheel (use something heavy... hit the tyre NOT the wheel, don't want the wheel damaged) ... DO NOT LY UNDER THE CAR WHEN DOING THIS JUST INCASE THE CAR COMES OFF THE jack.

alternatively... with all four wheel nuts loosened by 3 turns... carefully move the car forwards and backwards... this could free it from the hub.

I just swapped all 4 of my wheels last weekend, putting on my summer

tyres and I had to slap the wheels quite a bit too to get them off.

I used a trolley jack as I had one handy and slapped the outside of the tyre on the

3 and 9 o' clock positions alternately. The fronts were harder to get off than the rears.

was more annoyed at the fact that i replaced the front 2 tyres not long ago as the ex (whos was the previous owner) had done a similar thing and the other tyre was only just legal ooops lol alls well that ends well i guess
