Cheers,

Thats means i dont have one then, cos i can see the oil filter with heatshield in situ. which could also explain the oil burning smoke/smell when i drive it hard, yet no oil drips on the floor....mmmm interesting.

I'll remove heatshield in mornin n have a look then.

Cheers

shouldn't need to take the shield off ,just look from under the car ,and there will be a hole where the tube goes in

or the tube will still be there and thats why its not dripping any oil ,I would have thought some oil would have been blowing out the top of the tube though?? you can see the hole here below the filter

Don't forget to watch your hand if checking oil when the engine is hot...

Lost count of how many times I've burnt my hand checking the oil!!!

SNAP!!

Yeah, if its not there you should be able to feel the hollow metal tube it sits in.

I have just changed from an N/A to a turbo and couldn't find mine either. Only when I realised it had been covered with a black tube I managed to find it. Totally different kind to the N/A one so it confused the hell out of me.

Quick question, but why are you all checking you oil when the car is hot? you need to let the engine cool AND the oil settle before you can check the levels anyway
