The alloys are made of alluminium arent they? would it be the salt on the roads over the winter that caues the corrosion?

This is a well known issue that Toyota have had with Corolla and MR2 alloys. Not sure what age of car it applies to, but there have definitely been issues. I had an 05 MR2 with corrosion issues on the alloys, my father in law had corrosion issues with the alloys on his 1.6 Tspirit Corolla, both of us got 4 brand new alloys under warranty! :D

Not sure if this was under the 12 year anti-corrosion warranty or just the standard 3 year manufacturers warranty.

Don't consider refurb until you have been to your local Toyota dealership and shown them the problem. Try and get them replaced for nothing.

Hope this helps.
