So I take a run in to the town today, had a day off and catch up with a few things, get back late morning for around a half hour, then off out again for a set of new tyres at which point (it hadn't happened in town as I am picky as hell around the car when left in car parks) I notice some absolute tw4t has taken out my front nearside wing, bumper, and cracked the headlight, thus destroying my protected NCB. Obviously a pro as they didn't even set the alarm off, which I would've heard as the window was open.

I can only hope the cosmic repercussions for whoever outweighs the inconvenience to me somehow, although I'd better not voice what I really wish for them here in public.

Another bad thing about it is that everyone who notices will think it was me who cant drive!

Thanks for listening to my tale of woe, and allowing me to share it with you on this Friday evening.

Sorry to hear about that.

I do not understand your statement "destroying your protected NCB"...................................surely if your NCB is protected, you will not loose it if you claim on your insurance............................that is the point of protected NCB.

depends as you can only claim a certain number of times before your ncb protection is no longer protecting yr no claims , well i think thats how it works anyway.

and i hate them type of people, the people who got lucky passing their test and dont have a clue how to park and cant judge distances when reversing to nearby cars etc and dont have the guts to leave a number on yr car due to the fact theyre a waste of 8 pints of blood.

you got a quote for the fix matey ?

Ouch, Sorry to hear it mate.

Same happened on my Peugeot 206. Was running around town once, went ina small shop were my car was parked about 2 meters away from the door, came back out to notice the exact same had happened as you've just described.

It's really, really irratating to say the least.

Thanks for the well wishes chaps.

The reason my protected NCB is now gone is I made a claim two years ago, scratched it myself reversing up a track on a rainy windy day with a carload, you know the script, windows full of condensation, rogue post with a rusty nail sticking out the hedge... that definitely wasn't there on the way in - haha! I felt a right chump. That was my first claim, and I think it's no more than 2 claims in either 3 or 5 years?

Yep, had the quote done already, they didn't tell me other than the new wing, from Toyota is £90 bare, and the headlamp, well best not think about that one. Anyway, on the bright side the whole lot is costing just the excess and lots of crossed fingers for the next few years!

Cheers.

Sorry to hear about this - some people are :censor:

Don't think protected NCD is much to shout about. Had 6 years protected NCD and then some old chump ran into me 1 month before my insurance was due for renewal . Anyway, come renewal time the claim was still going through and my insurance had increased by £100. Phoned up the insurance company and was told "your NCD has not been affected sir, you premium has gone up due to the accident", so with a 45% discount due to NCD means my premium went up by nearly £200 :censor: and it wasn't even my fault.

When the claim went through and it was judged not to be my fault I rang again and asked for my money back - They said they would look into it. After another 2 months - gave up waiting and moved insurance companies.

Y'know whats funny?

After reading this thread this morning, I went out and did my daily business, came home and washed the car.

In the process of washing the car I noticed 2 big blokes of silver paint scuffed across my front bumper, No note or anything.

Luckily this time it came off with a scrape of the nail and left only 1 tiny chip barely noticable, goes to show there's so many sh1te drivers on the roads.

Mate i read that and i could not help but laugh at the way you put it so proffesionaly oh god i was laughing for literally 5 minutes non stop.

I can tottaly understand how you feel about the damage to the car and how it must be driving round as people will think idiot cant drive he stacked it. I felt like that when some woman knocked my mirror off but i was lucky i chased her in the act and stopped her so i didnt lose my NCB.

But people are proper messed up if i hit someones car i would leave name and number and even sort it out privately.

People dont care nowadays though. And it isnt minor damage either but try all i could suggest if its not to bad pop to a good body shop and try get it repaired cheaper and save your ncb. But best of luck to you!
