Help ! My Glanza Is Broken :-(

Hi Everyone im new to the site, from Irelannd.

I bought a 96 ep91 3 weeks ago , it had a few problems like the usually leaking gearbox and whatnot which is expected with 200,000k on the colck lol.

Any way it ran out of petrol a week ago , i filled the tank back up 3 times since and have added fuel cleaners but it keeps a low idel on start up ,

the idel is usually around 700 but since last week it usually runs at 300 and then it dies after a while, initialy the car was cutting out after every few hours of driving but now its gotten to the stage where everytime i come to a roundabound i know full well the car is gonna die, im only 18 and everyone keeps laughin cas they think im stallin the car but im not cas its in nutruel when it cuts out and its terribly embarresin .

funnily enough in the mornins when the car is cold and i start it up it usually idels at 700-1000 rpm untill the temparure gauge starts to raise to the half way point,

ive concidered tightning the accelerator cabel but its hidden under the stupit poxy turbo and it seems like such a big effort just to tighten the cabel and tightning the cable could damage it even more cas sometimes it just idels at 1000 in the mornings and i dont wanna start my cold car in the morning having it ideling at 1500 lol.

the mechanic said drive it around for a week with the fuel cleaner , that was 500km ago and the problem is only getting worse :-(

any help or suggestions are greatly appricated ,

Thanks boys :P

you should try changing the spark plugs, leads, change the oil, get the engine flushed, this is what i did on my previous corolla! altough it was nothing wrong with it, it was part of a MOT service and i thought i give the car a treat and go for the full service!

it was noticable from the start, the car ran far smoother after that and even pulled a bit better at lower revs when in 4th gear! the car just came back to life again!

try that, especially with that kind of milage the car has done!

let us know how you get on lad!

if you ran it dry then there's a good chance that you pulled a load of sediment into the fuel filter. That's where I'd look first.

well i went to the effort of removin the turbo and tightning the acceleration cabel , i havent a clue about what goes on under the bonnot of a car but it was worth a try ha ,

the turbo was hard to take off as the nuts/bolts where extreamly stiff and started to crumbel as i went to unscrew them :-(

after that it was obvious the acceleration cabel was extreamly loose and needed replacing , i just used some duck tape to hold it in place as im smashed after spending so much money on the car and cant afford for a new cabel to be fitted , its only a tempory messure and its revving a little high (1200) but if i put my foot under the accelerater pedal and push it up it drops to 700rpm but its very annoyin , well i cant wait to sell the blooody thing anyway lol.

im going to import a glanza from japan myself, anyone know any good sites ?

i find japan outo direct a great site but they dont do glanzas :-(

im paticularly looking for a site similar to JAD as they are honest and tell you of any problems whith the car and show you detailed photos, anyone whpo has used the site will know what i mean :-)
