New Memeber, T3-x Headlights

Hi Folks, I've just recently joined the forum and can I just say what an excellent and informative forum it is. Next Saturday I'll become the, hopefully, proud owner of a 54 reg. T3-x petrol Avensis from an independant dealer. I've been reading, with interest, the various problems that have cropped up and am particularly interested in the headlight bulb holder melting/ condensation issues. Can anyone tell me, was this issue still apparent on '54 models or had the problem been addressed by Toyota before then, ie had they introduced a new design with metal bulb holders by then. I believe my car was registered in October 54. I've traded in my Passat which never caused me much trouble except for wear and tear, I'm really looking forward to driving the Avensis and being part of the club.

Hello Shooiebhoy, welcome to TOC,

the advice I would give you is to contact your local dealer and ask him. If he is a half decent one he will tell you and check them out for you. The warranty was extended on the headlamps because of that fault and also because they would get a bad dose of condensation in them. I have 2003 model and they replaced my bad headlamp unit FOC last year with no fuss! (Toyota York) The warranty on the headlamps is now up to 5 years, I would do something pretty soon if you are on a 54 plate. Give them a ring mate. All the best, Jed.

Thanks for that Jed, I'll get on the case as soon as.
