Celica Engine Swap

Hi guys, my 2000 celica gt engine just blew, I think it is also the dreaded oil problem, and I was wondering if I could swap a 2003 toyota matrix engine into it, supposedly it is the same engine. I'm just wondering if I needed to purchase anything or make any special adaptations. Or should I go all out and purchase a modified swap? If so what are their names, how much are they, and where can I buy one.

I think I read somewhere that the matrix has the 2ZZ engine. so if you want your GT to run like a GTS, go for it. I could be wrong about the matrix though.

I believe the matrix has a 1zzfe model and the 2zzge is for the AWD model, so theoretically it should work, I just need assurance that I'm not wasting my money on an engine that won't work.

dude, you should really drop a 3SGTE in there. it won't cost you an arm and a leg, but will give you more output than a 1zz or a 2zz. if you're looking for fuel efficiency then go for the matrix 1zz, and if you want to Frankenstein your own GTS get a 2zz. but if you're going to go to all that trouble anyways, you should get yourself that 3SGTE
