New Tyres

Hi guys just a quick one

my celica current has tyres which are 205/45/17ZR

Ive seen some nice ones (reasonably cheap) but they are 205/40/17ZR

Will they be ok for my car

Yes mate they will be fine, they will just have a lower profile.

The code for tyres is broken down as follows:

The first three figures i.e 205 gives the width of the tyre (the distance across the tread pattern)

The next two figure i.e 45 gives the profile (the difference between the inner diameter and outer diameter)

The last two numbers give the diameter of the tyre so if you have a tyre which is 205/45/17 they will fit an alloy which is 205mm across and has a 17" diameter.

The letters at the end represent the speed rating for that tyre i.e the maximum speed it can safely do.
