Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a decent place to have my air con gas refilled. I heard kwik fit can do it but no idea how good their service will be. Any recommendations. I live in East London.

Thanks

Are you really sure you need it done? my car is T reg, 1999 and it is still ok, could be better but not worth being re gased.

I was quoted £90 for a re gas. had no warrenty or anything...

Was then quoted £170 i think for a full pipe flush and re gas, filters changed and 12 month warrenty. I'd want at least 5 years warrenty on my air con tbh!

That was prices in Cheshire, If you double it you should just about be right down there.

I just had my 5-year old Corolla re-gassed for £35 (ie. top-up) by ATL in Luton - they came to my work and did it at lunchtime for no extra cost.

I bought a new aircon filter here: http://www.puravent.co.uk/filters/dispfilter.pl?id=232

I went to Halfords and bought some Comma aircon cleaner http://www.commaoil.com/News/newsairconcleanhtm.htm

Total cost less than £70

I suggest you check the net for a local company to re-gas your aircon and do the rest yourself.

That seems like a fair good deal that does. I have seen people who advertise on eBay as mobile air con regassers

Good idea really

a\c loses about 15% per year - was at me mates garage when he was regasing a car and he was telling me. me T Sport is 4 now and i aint had it done, still well cold but i do use the anti-bacterial spray. they charge £79 but said they will do mine cheap - needs to be as i dont really use me a/c

The aircon bloke told me that you should try to use your aircon for at least 5 minutes per fortnight. The aircon gas contains a lubricant which need to be circulated occasionally to ensure the pipes and seals don't dry out.

We've barely needed aircon in Britain for about 18 months, but I thought I'd be optimistic and get ready for summer. I was also pessimistic and replaced my Wiper Blades whilst I was at it...

i do put it on for the afore mentioned reasons but not fortnightly - i'll try remember to use it more. me mate was saying to use it all the time - in the summer it uses as much fuel as having the windows open but i hate using it?
