Alarm System With Cat1

I'm going to get a CAT1 alarm for my mr2 which on the way from japan. I'm looking at the turbo timer option for the car, is it illegal and also invalidate my insurance??

Is there many ppl still using the turbo timer ignoring the law and policies, or they just wait in the car for 30sec.

I personally think turbo timers are a waste of money. Insurance wise, its a tricky one, as its illegal to leave a running vehicle unattended, but for insurance purposes, the keys wouldnt be in it, so to be honest im not sure, any doubts ring the insurance firm and get it in writing.
