Unexplained Bleeping

I have recently bought a T3 1.8. My wife has just rung to say that she was driving it along and a beeper started beeping with no corresponding warning on the dashboard. The beeper varied from slow beeping to fast beeping.

The manual only seems to mention beeping in association with warnings on the dashboard. Can anyone shed any light on this?undefined

Thanks for the hint about seat belt sensors. Should they not show a warning on the dashboard? Is this a known problem?

She had her handbag on the passenger seat and the seat belt warning went off because it thought somebody was sitting on it........Bet ya!.......happens all the time, not always a handbag, it does it when I put a six pack on Stella on the seat too!

Kingo

Thanks for this - it is probably the cause. But when you get a bleep because of your six pack on the passenger seat do you also get the warning symbol on the dash?

Yes it's on top next to the hazard warning switch, on the LHD model it's on the right so I would expect it to be to the left by the RHD models.

Apart from the seat belt warning does the car have front/rear parking sensors could they have been activated. I know they are not standard on a T3 but could have been a specified option.

I think Parts King explanation is right !! handbags are the biggest cause but considering what they cart about in them its not surprising

Yup, sounds like the seat belt warning to me. First time it happened to me I had put a fairly heavy backpack on the front passenger seat of my E12. Took me a while to work out what it was

I've just got my Verso :D and It did the same thing to me today, It wasn't the passenger seatbelt warning as I had a passenger and he was wearing his. What I think it was beeping was the climate control as it was quite hot and we came back to the car after it sitting all day and was really hot so I turned down the temp to 17 deg C and as we were drving along we heard a beep coming from the central panel, after switching on the AC it stopped for a little while and then came back. I then turned the temp up and the noise dissapeared.
