St 185 Steering Problems And More

Hi,

I have just got a celica gt4 st185 and i have a few problems its a cracking classic car so i want to put her right.

the handling is squirmy if i hit any bump in the road the car pulls off in that direction ive been told a front wheel bearing is rough, would it be bad enough to cause the handling issues?

At high revs getting into fith gear is grindy but not at low revs synchro rings?

I have sporadic leaks of both coolant and oil dripping directly off the heat shield under the engine.

The coolant only leaked once on a very hot day after driving (about a cup full dripped out very quickly then stopped), after then driving again, the temp sensor always says everything is fine, when i slowed down smoke/steam came from the engine. There is a tiny bit of oily residue in the radiator but i was told the heads gasket and cam belt had recently been replaced and this is normal.

The oil dripped out until the dip stick showed it was half full and now seems to have stopped dripping.

does any one please have any ideas, there arent many of these cars around anymore and now one less as a holiday maker smashed his up in our town last week!

the squirmy handling is normal, especially with speed. if the steering wheel wants to wander, then let it, but not if its trying to go off course. as for what you said about the oil in the water, and leaking oil and water, that would suggest the head gasket needs replacing rather having been replaced.
