Co Fail On Mot

Anybody help please. February 1996 Rav 4 G. Failed MOT on CO level . - Natural Idle Test = Pass CO level. Fast Idle Test = Fail CO level. HC and Lambda both Pass. Mot man reckons it needs a new cat - Any thoughts please . car has done 113,305 miles - recently had clutch and timing belt done

I'd be surprised if it was the cat....unless its been damaged physically.

The mileage isn't excessive - my 3SFE engine did almost 160,000 before seizing. Didn't have a problem with the emmissions.

I'd maybe try one of these engine tuners to check the car. Even simple things like spark plugs?

If the person also reckons its the cat, you can get them cheaper either from a breaker, or from other suppliers. I might even have one off number 2 RAV as its getting a straight thru exhaust. Let me know.
