Hooking Up An Amplifier - Finding A Decent Plug-through

Hey,

Well i've managed to get all the parts needed for an aftermarket HU+speakers etc, found a good spot for the amplifier in the trunk, now all that remains are the cables.

Below both doors when closed are strips where cables run through, these can be easily clicked off so you can add more cables.

However, i need to pull a 35qmm cable from the Battery underneath the hood to the back of the car.

Most cars have a plug-through hole made from rubber where you can fit cables through, however in the tigh engine room in the Auris i cant find one.

Has anyone found a decent way to get a cable though? If so please post some pictures or say the whereabouts!

Thanks in advance.

cant you take power from somewhere else rather than directly from the Battery??

Are you running power and sound down different sides of the car??

Im planning on running the power and Speakers on the left, the RCA cable (signal) on the right - most important that this is seperated from the rest.

However im nowhere unless i can get a cable from the Battery to the trunk, there is no place to tap power from as the Amps are just too high, we're talking 40-60 Amps here.

You may find the gromit you want right behind the Battery, going into the wing above the innerarch, then from there into the dashboard, IF you find the gromit there you will need to take the wheel off then remove ya wheel arch, in order to do a propper job.

Easiest way of getting cable from under bonnet to cabin in new Toyotas is to use the existing big grommet for the car loom.

Just pierce a hole in the grommet (to the side of where the cables pass through) and feed your cable through there. Now before people start bitching about piercing the standard loom grommet etc - this is how TOYOTA recommend fitting various accessoy wiring.

And where is this located? Since i see several places where cables enter through the chassis into the interior?

find the one that looks most likely to go just below your dash board and use that, it doesn't really matter which you choose.

Found it;

Underneath the hood

Same cable comes out below the dash (left of the radio).

Will make more pictures/movies when i do the entire cableset and hook everything up, to make a decent tutorial for the rest who want to attempt this.

Take a larger pic of the engine too and circle where that top pic is taken as close up like that trying to spot in the engine is hard to do

With regards in running your cables the best way is to run the power cable down the same side as the Battery and then the others down the other side

I am going to be attempting this over the long weekend. Has anyone successfully installed an amplifer in an auris as yet on the forum?

I am going to run the power cable from the amplifier down the Passenger side (RHD car) and run the RCA/Remote cable down the centre of the car.

Is this possible? What could you recommend? Is there anything odd that I need to look out for?
