Corolla Power Problem

Hi,

First time here, would appreciate some help.

I'm driving a 2003 Toyota corolla, plugged an air compressor to fill up my tires, in the lighter socket.

Since that moment the cars radio, clock, lighters, and electric mirrors aren't working.

I checked all the fuses outside the car and inside with a test light.

Repaired the 15 amp fuse for CIG but no good.

All the fuses work.

What could it be?

I have a feeling that i'm over looking something?

Thanks for your advice,

J.

Something similar happened to me , years ago. I plugged a small vacuum cleaner into the lighter socket. After about 3 minutes, it died. Fuse was ok, so I just ignored it & threw out the vacuum :(

Reckon I'd burned out something in the wiring web. Friend in Renault Dealers told me that, ideally, you shouldn't even recharge your phone from the lighter socket, as it is not designed for continuous heavy usage.

I reckon that a compressor would require a lot. My tuppence worth is , bring (have it brought ) to a Main Dealer.

Hope it isn't mega bucks :fear:

Best of luck

Sorry Mate, I didn't fix it. The garage had a look, as I am not very technically inclined, & said they couldn't locate the problem.

I just ignored it & didn't use the lighter socket. I smoke the pipe anyway  so it didn't bother me .

I would certainly try the advice given on that link, but still feel that you have major damage.

Hope I am wrong & the best of luck. :excl:

Sorry Joed. That sounded differently than I had intended. I quite understand that my fault was capable of being ignored, while yours means a dead car.

I still think - Main Dealer & have her put on the Computer.

Hope that something works out for you

It will be a fuse, possibly marked as "dome" or "Cig"
