Hello, I've recently bought aftermarket Speakers for my 99 corolla, I wanted to replace my rear Speakers because I knew that would be easiest, but the fool at the speaker place gave me 5 1/4 instead of 5 3/4 in. But I've deciede to just put them in the front because the front Speakers actully sound worse. But I can't get the damn panel off the door.

I've been looking around on the net, trying to find some site to take me through it step by step but no luck. I can get the bottom half loose, but there are still 1 or 2 things connected in the top of the door, near the lock and door handle. Can anybody help me? or give me the like to a site that has instructions... thanks, Paul.

if u dont have power windows then there will b a clip in the window winder, and there will also b screws on the door handle and arm rest.

but usually the speaker cover is put on with clips, so try and pop it out with a screw diriver and that will save u some time.

Sounds harder than it actually is!!

Ok, first you need to remove the plastic trim around the inner door handle/lock combo. To do this you need to unscrew the + screw from the trim (under a small cover) and then place a flat head screwdriver in the top and bottom of where the door handle hinges. Carefully prise the plastic cover off which is also held in by a slot at the back.

Take the rest of the + screw out from various locations on the door card and then carefully prise the door panel off. The top of the door panel clips on a lip running along the window sill, again carefully prise it off.

The hardest and most crucial bit is getting the plastic trim off from around the inner lock/handle. You won't be able to get the door panel off (with no damage) without removing it.

That should do it

It was the 2 screws behind the arm rest, you have to pry it off. And beware anyone trying to put Speakers in the front, they are not ment to come out, they are like ramset fastened in there, you cant unscrew them or anything, i got it off by going to town with a screwdriver and a hammer. And no Speakers come with brakets to fit the holes already in the door, you have to make your own out of wood.

Original Speakers are held in with rivets which are easily drilled out. It's fairly easy to fit aftermarket Speakers into the doorpods, you do need to make some homemade brackets for them though.

Yeah, I need to get some thin wood and make a spacer. Those !Removed! dont make toyota's to easy to mess with, in my old 91 4runner, just to get access to the head unit, i had to take off all the front trim, except the flat part on the top, and damn that metric system and my american tools.
