Help With Possible Write Off

Hi,

Im new to this forum and Im really hoping someone can help me.

I was involved in an accident 3 days ago. I was going at 5mph and the opposite driver was going at over 40mph in a 30 zone. I hit the side of his car with the front of mine.

at a first glance, the bumper has come off, the radiator is exposed the side panels are ever so sligghtly bent as is the bonnet. the car still can be driven as the police helped me get it back to my house.

the problem is the insurance approved garage has stated it will cost £7000 to repair this damage!!! DUe to this it will most likely be a write off!!!

it was an 05 reg in perfect condition.

does anyone have any experience with these kind of things and would it be worthwhile for me to get a 2nd opinion from a toyota approved garage?

2nd I actually paid off my car last year so owed nothing on it
