Couple of things, what grade of engine oil should i put into my st185? Put the genuine toyota stuff that the local dealer gave me last time, im just wondering if this is the best idea? Also how to you check/top up the gearbox oil? My box is a bit stiff on selecting gears sometimes. Any help on these would be great

firstly any quality 10w 50 synthetic will be fine (not the budget stuff) Toyota oil will be fine if its synthetic.

on the front of the gearbox there is a level bung, it has a 24mm hex head on it. looking from underneath you will see two oil cooler pipes going to the gearbox, its just above these, you can fill through this hole as well, fill till the oil just comes back out of the hole. 75w 90 synthetic gear oil should be used.

there is also a small block in the selector that wears and can cause the gear change to become tricky, if you do a search on GT4OC or GT4EC for 'sugar cube' there is the necessary info to check and change it, its not too hard to get at.
