Key Fob Problem! Help Please!

I have a Corolla GS 2000 '00-'02 W reg.

The key fob for the remote has 2 buttons. One to lock and one to unlock.

One day when pressing the locking or unlocking button (don't remember which) the LED on the key fob remained stuck to on and the car locking mechanism refused to respond (I could still start the engine and lock and unlock the car mechanically with the key). I did not open the fob to remove the Battery but by the next day the LED was off anyway. Depleted Battery I suspected so I replaced the Battery.

Now only unlocking works remotely (LED lights briefly as it should). When I press the button to lock the car, nothing happens - the LED on the key fob does not light.

I don't remember how long before or after the initial incident (so it might have a bearing on this) I have left the key overnight in a very humid environment and water might have condensed or dripped inside (I made sure to dry it over a source of heat for 2-3 hours before using it but...).

Anybody has an idea how to fix this or suggestions on what my options are?

Cheers.

Yess Yess Yess I know the answer :D

Hi, because you changed the Battery, the key fob needs resetting.

In your handbook you will find how to do this, although it doesn't always work (never makes it work) but when i tried mine it did all the things the book said it would during the process but it never actually worked enought I can only lock my car, so I am on my spare key now and Toyota want £80 to sort it for me.... if in doubt though there is an expensive option by going to toyota should you really need to.

OR use ya spare :)
